Taekwondo Assistant Instructor

September of 2016 - July of 2019

While working for Roman Martial Arts, I have had the privilege and honor of being an Assistant Taekwondo instructor. There, my primary responsibility is to teach the fundamentals of Taekwondo skills and character traits to the Little Dragons Program which is primarily five  through seven year olds. This requires constantly learning and observing new ways to teach, so that all children can effectively learn techniques, drills, and character traits through a method that is best suited to them. In order to provide optimal instruction, I also plan and prepare the class activities and learning objectives by analyzing the class needs. 

Responsibilities

  • Train students the fundamentals of Taekwondo Skills and Charter Traits

  • Live by Tenets of Taekwondo; courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit to be an example

  • Minor Janitorialy and additional responsibilities as assined

Accomplishments

  • Earned a 3rd Degree Black belt

  • Level 2 Poomsae (forms) Referee

  • D2 Kyorugi(sparing) Referee

Camp Sidney Dew Area Director

Summers of 2018-2020

Most recently I served as an Area Director for the 1st year campers. This program is an intensive course designed to introduce scouts to basic skills and values that the scouting program provides. As an area director, I served alongside my staff to ensure that all campers had a fun and safe camping experience for their 1st summer camp. My responsibilities were to ensure the success of the 1st year program along with guiding and directing my staff to create a positive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate a dynamic first-year program

  • Act as a link between Camp Administration and staff

  • Facilitate a cohesive team dynamic

  • Administrative Duties as assigned

    • Coordinate consular  schedules​ and participant schedules

    • Maintain Inventory Records

    • Log Advancement Records

    • Performance Reviews

  • Coordinate Camp Set up and Take Down

  • Guide and Enable staff to create strong lesson plans and teaching skills

Accomplishments

  • Developed a completely new first-year program

    • Expanded overall requirements obtained by scouts ​

    • Also added dynamic games, opportunity, and program so that scouts could truly enjoy their 1st-year experience

  • Increased Overall Area Ratings

  • Highest Level of Returning Staff in the past 5 years

Camp Sidney Dew Merit Badge Consular


As a summer camp counselor, with Boy Scouts, my primary responsibilities were planning, preparing, and teaching Merit Badge classes and skills. Predominantly, I taught the first aid and search and rescue merit badges which have a surplus of valuable knowledge that is essential for all scouts to succeed. However,  one of the most difficult challenges was to find activities and methods that allow scouts to learn engagingly and interactively. Also, summer camp counselors are charged with preparing and maintaining Camp Sidney Dew by ensuring that campsites and program areas, and other minor janitorial tasks.
